Elevating the Game: Transforming Hazard High School’s Athletic Complex
ClotfelterSamokar has been proud to partner with Hazard Independent Schools over the past several years to enhance their athletic facilities and create a top-tier experience for students, athletes, and fans alike. Our work began in 2020 with the replacement of the football field turf following storm damage, followed by new field lighting the next spring. Most recently, in 2025, we completed the demolition and replacement of the football field’s grandstands and press box—bringing new energy and accessibility to the game-day experience.
At the softball complex, our team designed and constructed a new multi-purpose building featuring storage, concessions, public restrooms, and a press box. We also created a concrete spectator plaza, new parking, and rebuilt both home and visitor dugouts with an integrated locker room. The field received new backstop netting and outfield fencing to complete the upgrades.
The baseball complex improvements mirrored this comprehensive approach, with a new multi-purpose building, standalone press box, spectator plaza, and new dugouts with locker room. Updated backstop netting and careful site design addressed the field’s steep grade changes and tight layout, ensuring accessibility and usability throughout.
Once fully completed, these projects will transform the school’s athletic complex into a cohesive, modern facility that celebrates school spirit and supports future generations of student-athletes.
