Appalachian Wildlife Center Master Plan

The Appalachian Wildlife Center will be a premier tourism destination in Southeast Kentucky showcasing Kentucky’s diverse wildlife population. The Center will feature Exhibit Areas, a Birder’s Hall and a Regional Museum area in addition to an Artisan Market and 120-seat theater. The Center is built upon a mountain top removal mine spoil site with incredible views across multiple valleys. The master plan took into account these views, a nearby pond and the habitat area for the elk. The master plan took into account the existing topography to ensure the new development would create a landscape consistent with the surrounding undisturbed lands.
